Rant to GE and producing defective bulbs and small text boxes on their “contact us” form because Target ripped me off. Unless you are receiving a paycheck from GE, you may scroll along.

I recently got a light bulb (GE Lighting 74437 FLE15AG19/2/SWCD - GE Energy Smart A19) that did not last for more than a few minutes before fading off. I bought it and left it on my bedroom table for about 2 months. After finally installing the bulb, I never really used the lantern for a few more weeks until I had time to rearrange my room so that the one and only switch-controlled light switch could work with the new hanging lantern I had just marvelously watercolored and light bulb I then had.
I just returned from Target because I needed to get this bulb replaced.
Of course, after about 2.5-3 months of not using the bulb after purchase, the receipt would be lost in the midst of all other receipts I’ve collected over the time since my purchase. Also, after I opened the package to a $8 light bulb (which is a little steep for a piece of glass and wiring that emits light), I threw away the packaging because the last thing I expected was a dysfunctional light bulb. I took what I had left, the light bulb, and went back to Target again. I understand with policy, they were only able to refund me about $6 of my over $8 light bulb, which is apparently the lowest list price in their system.

I know that this is a small, trivial amount and a small, trivial issue. But for a poor college kid who just found out that the school was taking $5000 out of my loans/scholarships due to misunderstandings and other issues, $2 means a grand meal to a hungry belly.
I won’t expect any big action, but it would be nice if someone from GE were to at least acknowledge this writeup and my situation, as well as the time it took to write beyond the 360 character limit on the “contact us” form.
I sure hope that this second bulb won’t die out on me, or I will be an extremely unhappy customer for all of the hassle required just to get a light in the corner of my room.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing back from a representative of the company.
Sincerely,
K. Thompson
